THE WOLF,THE RABBIT,&THE CABBAGE

First, one should familiarize oneself with this 'problem' which is to convey these three things INTACT and SAFELY across a river, stream, etc. in a boat or raft or craft that will only accommodate YOU and ONLY ONE of the three at a time in this crossing. In looking at this, you will,if you are honest, discover a few things about yourself. BUT if I should present this problem in actuality and require to you to solve it PHYSICALLY what would you discover? What would it prove about you and the problem and so forth? I can tell you that most people would not be able to accomplish this task for innumerable reasons and some of them you can imagine or surmise, but there are much deeper reasons. Most try to solve it MENTALLY, THEORETICALLY, LOGICALLY, RATIONALLY with 'no-sweat'/no strain, no EFFORT! Having solved this problem mentally does not mean you UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM and how it applies to you! I shall discuss this after everyone who reads this has time to ponder it and I invite all comments on it. Gracis Muchisimo!

  1. Hi Im Kremson, Im 12.

Take the rabbit first, go back with nothin. Then take the cabbage over then go back and take the rabbit with you. You never said, you couldnt take anything back with you. So you carry the rabbit back you. Leave it, take the wolf over and leave it, then you go back and take the rabbit again. The purpose is keep your animals alive and in one piece. You dont want the wolf to eat the rabbit and you dont want the rabbit to eat the cabbage. The end. Kremson Tanner

  2. If you are 12, then you have to actually learn to row a boat and learn to cross a river and then obtain these three objects. What you have done is to use your intellect to solve the 'puzzle', the 'problem',etc. but this solution is of little value to you in life. You still don't know, apparently, and tell me if I am wrong, what the rabbit, the wolf and the cabbage or (lettuce) are.

  3. Conveying the three objects to the other side of the river in the boat as limited, etc. implies you must leave one object there and come back with the other one,in order to safe guard them all and achieve the goal of all of you being on the other side. But this is not just an exercise in mere logic, though it can give you some possible insight.
